Original Art and Gift Package Now In Store

 

Hello from the long drought, friends.

I'm happy (and vulnerably twitching) to announce I just added some newly-for-sale original art to my store, along with a gift package that includes Dear Creature, The New Deal, and an original sketch (you get to choose from a few different options on the sketch, too). I'm also offering 10% off on orders over one hundred bucks (those originals, say) with the code '10PERCENT' through Sunday, so the devoted among you can snag a deal.

The current pieces include work from Superman: American Alien, Green River Killer, Batman '66, Eerie, and a few others. I'll rotate stuff from time to time, so check in down the road if you're hunting for something in particular. You can also always contact me about specific art requests or commissions here.

Jonathan Case: The Creep #1 Signing and Gallery

This week, I officially wrapped up my art duties on John Arcudi's wrenching neo-noir, The Creep. And yet ... the world's hardly begun to see it! That changes in September, as issue #1 of the Dark Horse miniseries comes to comics shops, following August's issue #0 (a collection of three segments we ran in Dark Horse Presents). It'll have a fabulous Mike Mignola cover (!) and a sweet release party/signing/gallery at the Portland Things From Another World store (Hollywood location). I'll be there September 12th, from 7 to 10 PM doing the requisite signing, and they'll have a gallery of my work up all month, featuring pieces from Dear Creature, Green River Killer, The Creep, and more. I may even put some of them up for sale. If all that's not enough to get you out there, I have four words: FREE FOOD AND BEER.

If you're near Portland, come out and enjoy swell comics folk, drinks, and 80's neo-noir-themed-hors d'oeuvres. Just kidding. But I wouldn't put it past Elisabeth, the TFAW master of ceremonies. She does it up right.

In related news, I'm happy to hear that a lot of you enjoyed issue #0. You crazy kids, you. Thanks for all the help getting this book noticed. And remember: the more issues of The Creep you read, the more sunlight you'll need for basking in afterwards. I promise.

Eisner Win + Unseen Artwork

Last night the powers that be honored Jeff Jensen and me with an Eisner award for Best Reality-Based Work on Green River Killer. Quite an honor. I'm especially happy for Jeff and his family— their story is heroic in a way you rarely find in comics. To commemorate the occasion, here's some (typically creepy) artwork I did for a part of the GRK promotional machine that just never saw the light of day.

Annnnnnnnd.... I'm sure Jeff did a great job of this already, but since I wasn't at San Diego or the Eisners this time, I'll make my acknowledgements here:

Emerald City Was GOOD

Back from Emerald City Comic Con, and what a lovely con it was. Good friends, good fans, good sales. I missed my family (first weekend away from baby), but I had David Hahn with me as surrogate kin, so that took away some of the sting. By the way, if you haven't checked out David's All Nighter yet, you should. It's a terrific return to his one-man-show cartooning; my favorite type of David Hahn comic.

A highlight was getting to meet Tom and Charlaine Jensen, and their son Mike. Such sweet people. Tom is the detective behind Green River Killer: A True Detective Story, my book with his son, Jeff. They gave me homemade cookies and a sweet thank you note for my work on the book. I gave them a look at some ridiculous art I drew for a convention attendee whose copy came with 8 pages blank in the middle of the story. Here's one of the doodles I did in the blank pages.

I also got to do a lot of fun commissions, which you can see over on the Periscope Tumblr. And I got to chat with the amazing Gabriel Hardman, who is, as you know, amazing. I even sold out of Dear Creature books!

Big thanks to everyone who made this such a great con. I'll definitely be back next year, if for no other reason than trying to outdo Ben Dewey's success. Give him a round of applause, everyone. He owned that thing.
